This is a vintage 1952 MG TD. You sit straight in a narrow cockpit with a large-rimmed steering wheel close to your chest. You won't get a speeding ticket for its take off from the line but its' low center of gravity and handling is remarkable. The side windows are secured behind the drivers seat. The fuel gauge does not exist, except for a light that turns on when the gas tank drops to 2.5 gallons. Having a whopping 54 horsepower, you would think it's a dog. The cast iron block and head have two valves per cylinder via pushrods and rockers. Compression ratio is 7.25:1. However it weighs 2,016 lbs and once underway is a dream to drive. This was first discovered by the Yanks over for the war, (England in WWII), who began importing them back to the U.S. Not many have survived the 63 years, as is expected. We acquired the car in July of 2012. We have taken it to car shows and for a spin at times around home. I think the only way you can understand the car is to drive it and experience the feeling. There is nothing automatic on this car. So if you are thinking of giving it to someone unfamiliar with car mechanics, in one word, don't. Maintenance is simple but some of it occurs every 500 miles. The suicide doors take some getting used to, but help with getting into and out of the sports car. This was the best selling model of all the "T" series, and rightfully so as the handling, good looks, and comfort options were the best. This was the first model with steel wheels instead of wire wheels. The maintenance on the wire wheels was excessive so the factory went with solid steel wheels. You can still get wire wheels, should you so desire along with many other options. Some original parts are still available and there is a myriad of aftermarket add-ons available. An example of that is the original factory fuel pump from England that we got when ours died.
