Unfortunately, 2 kids heading to college and a future house build have forced this sale. No matter how I felt before I got into this car, once I turned on the stereo and hit the freeway on any given summer night, I was instantly in a good mode. This car wont disappoint. It doesn't sound like a typical air-cooled VW either. The new larger motor is a lot more throatier (if that's a word) than a stock 1600 and has a ton more power. It has roughly 1200 miles on the new motor built by a very reputable VW shop. This car does shows well, but its a used car so there are a few imperfections. Although the paint is in good condition, there are some freeway chips to the front (unavoidable unless you have a bra), but they have been tastefully cleaned up and buffed by a professional shop on 5/1/15. The convertible top is in good shape and is operational, but there are 1 or 2 small 5" seams that could be redone. Lastly, the rpm gauge is off. Needs recalibrating. All minor. This car drives cool and comfortably at freeway speeds. Under the hood and engine compartment are clean and kept. The car is built on a 1971 VW chassis with the irs suspension. ** A FEW AUCTION HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS - SERIOUS BUYERS NEED ONLY ASK QUESTIONS, BUYERS NEED TO MAKE THEIR OWN SHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (I will be happy to assist with process). When I was looking to buy a Speedster, the shipping costs that I was quoted ranged from $500 - $1500. Price was dependent upon distance or if the trailer was open or enclosed. I recommend hiring an enclosed transporter. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY TRADES. The reserve is set low. I am a reasonable seller, so try to be a reasonable buyer and please no low ball offer-emails.
