Price: US $20,000.00 SOLD OUT
This 1961 Thunderbird convertible has been amateur restored about 18 years ago when it had 122,000 mi. on it. It now runs very smoothly, doors solid when closed, engine compartment is clean, very good nearly new WWW tires, has good upholstery and it drives well. Since then it has been stored indoors in Arizona. All the air conditioner parts are there but there is a little leak, so it doesnât work now. It is a good riding, pleasurable cruiser. It currently has 132,386 mi. VIN LY13Z127250. Bad points first, see condition description above. Not enough space above, see picture 15 and notice slight distortion in level reflection - that's the worst one. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD ANYONE BUY THIS CAR? Good points second. One new âQâ and the other is a new rechrome, new plastic pieces in the Thunderbird emblems, front & rear, new seat hinge covers, new rear brake shoeâs and drums, hood insulation, Edelbrock carburetor, transmission overhaul 8/7/03 (only 10,000 mi. since this and other overhaul items), chrome oil pan and dress up kit, engine rebuild 8/9/03, nearly new WWW tires with very little wear, AM radio works well, new flywheel, new A/C drier (other AC parts are from another car, system has a small leak and does not currently work), new master brake cylinder, rebuilt top motor 10/15/97, one new wheel cylinder, new upper ball joints, one new top cylinder, others fine, lower ball joints, restored clock, brand new front seat covers, older but excellent rear covers, new dash board top still in perfect condition, new fuel pump (by new, I mean since 1994 and with fewer than 10,000 mi.), mufflers, convertible top with new pads, F & R seals, (top was amateur installed but in excellent condition, There is a picture from inside the car showing the rear window is essentially crystal clear. Top is wrinkled by being in the trunk a long time), paint is basecoat, clear coat, generator and regulator, weatherstripping, Bumpers F & R rechromed and excellent along with most of the inside stuff (, stainless steel excellent ( two very small dents), chrome eyebrows, side spears not rechromed but not bad, may need replacement for show, and headlight surrounds not rechromed but in good condition, new mirrors, great fender skirts, and mostly new top relayâs. One other bad point - not room above - there are probably about 30 paint chips in the car. They have been repaired, are not obvious from 4 ft., but still show in bright light or upon close examination. I have tried to bend over backwards to include all negatives, but even with existing flaws, it's still a good car with lots of fun ahead.
