In this ownership of the car, only one mechanical part was sorted (all professionally) to ensure a great driving experience. The flywheel was resurfaced by a specialist in Chicago. Otherwise the car was not touched in any way. The previous owner had the paint refurbished, as well as replaced some of the exterior trim. A modern radio was put in place of the ashtray, and the rear shelf was removed and cut to accommodate the speakers for the radio. Otherwise, the car is fully original in every aspect. As with any Ford car this old, there are a few parts that have been worn and need replacing, but those are mostly interior parts. Most notably are the armrests and slight cuts in the Vinyl seats and headliner. These are all small and can be fixed with a vinyl repair kit. The plastic handle on the parking brake also needs a replacement. Exterior-wise, a Fairlane hood emblem needs to be put on. Otherwise, the car has everything it needs to look like it came from the factory. In regards to rust, there is slight surface rust on the bumpers, and there is a small hole on the trunk floor, but that is a common spot of rust on these cars because of the wiring design from Ford themselves. The metal around it is otherwise sturdy, and the rust is not developing. The clutch is at the end of its life-cycle, and may need to be replaced soon. The car did not come with a title from Vermont (Titles are not needed for older vehicles in that state), so I do not have one. Regardless, this car is fully registered in Illinois as an antique road-going vehicle. Whether your looking to display a surviving Fairlane, or looking for the easiest restoration project you can find on eBay, this car is a great buy for those who appreciate American classics. You will get lots of attention and appreciation for keeping it on the road, as shown by personal experience of owning it. Our house has run out of room for cars to properly store this classic for winter, and tuition money is needed for upcoming semesters.
