1978 MGB for sale. Very good condition, but not a collectorâs or show car. This car was converted from rubber bumper to chrome bumper and grille. Runs and drives excellent. Transmission shifts smooth, engine runs like a clock. Very little rust and a nice paint job. Chrome 72 spoke Dayton tubeless wire wheels, tires are a few months old with about 75% tread left. Engine and transmission came from another B with only 53K miles. True mileage unknown, but engine and transmission have about 77K miles on them and clutch was replaced 25K miles ago clutch master and slave cylinder rebuilt at that time. Much work done to this car within the last 20K miles (I have receipts for over 3K) including: Rebuilt front end (new swivel axles, polyurethane bushings, tie rod ends, brake calipers, pads and rotors and rack and pinion unit), new brake booster and master cylinder, new radiator and water pump. New rear wheel brake cylinders and shoes. Car has a GM 120 amp alternator (single wire), Flame Thrower electronic ignition system, and a Weber Outlaw 2bbl 36/36 synchronous downdraft carburetor with exhaust headers and a newer Monza exhaust system. Since getting rid of the Lucas electronics, she is dependable as all get out. Floor pans are solid and new interior, including new dash, door panels, kick panels, underdash panels, carpet and new seat upholstery were installed about a year ago. Vintage Les Leston wood and steel spoke steering wheel (came out of a 1962 Trimuph). Convertible top is in bad shape and will need to be replaced, but not much else is needed right away. Drips a little oil occasionally, but what old English car (or Harley) doesnât? Everything works on the car except the backup lights.
