This is a rare 1947 Mercury Eight Convertible Coupe. A beautiful example that is fresh from the Bobby McGowan estate here in Connecticut where it has resided in his possession for over 20 years. Prior to that, it came from a local Connecticut collector who restored the car to a high level winning an AACA junior and Senior Award in the 1990's. Today the car still looks great finished in its original and incredibly scarce color of Pirate Red with matching leather with tan cloth interior. I treated it to a cosmetic detailing as well as a new black canvas top bound in matching red leather. The top is a power top for ease of operation and it works as it should with all aspects inspected.The color is breathtaking!Mechanically we treated it to a service including a carburetor rebuild, coolant system flushing, changing of all fluids and a brake service. It runs and drives incredibly well. The restoration has held up well and is ready for top down driving this summer. It is tour ready and while it is no longer concours condition, it still likely ranks as one of the best examples extant.It is a beautiful older restoration award winning car. Part of a collection of cars that I have been selling from an estate, this gorgeous Mercury Eight Convertible Coupe ahs been in the collection since 2000. The trim is still in show condition. The paint is really nice with a few spots showing some age, but overall very presentable at any show. The interior is virtually new restored condition with its original radio, all brightwork & instruments as well as seats and carpeting looking beautiful. The engine bay is being detailed this week. The car starts instantly, runs, drives and stops exactly as a well maintained Ford of this era should. It doesn't pull and is well mannered & predictable in all circumstances. Under the car is a spotless chassis with no rust or rust repair evident anywhere. The trunk is also spotless with an older spare & jack in place. Please call if you have any questions.
