ALSO REPLACED 55 STEERING BOX WITH 605 POWER STEERING BOX. SEE PHOTOS. STORY I HEARD, BRAUN'S PULLED THE 301" OUT AND INSTALLED IN A BOAT. STORED THE REST INSIDE FOR 30 YEARS, OR SO. INSTALLED NEW SPEEDWAY ALUMINUM SEATS MOVED BACK 12", 61 OLDS 11" DEEP STEERING WHEEL,TO ORIGINAL COLUMN.TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ON FLOOR IN FRONT OF SEAT, HORN BUTTON. HAD A ROUND TRACK SHOP FAB, AND INSTALL A 4 POINT ROLL BAR, WELDED TO FRAME. WITH 5 POINT BELTS. WHEN WE DID THE FRONT FRAME REDO, WE INSTALLED A FRESH 409/472 STROKER WITH EDELBROCK ALUMINUM HEADS PORTED BY WAYNE HOENES, RICHMOND, VA. IT DYNOED AT 495HP WITH FACTORY CAST 62 409HP HEADS AND 2X4 INTAKE WITH FACTORY CARTERS. WE DID NOT DYNO AFTER ALUMINUM HEADS WERE ADDED. EZ OVER 500HP. NEW EDELBROCK 2X4 INTAKE AND 500CFM CARBS. COULD PROBABLY USE 750CFM. DOUGS TRY Y HEADERS, ELECTRIC CUT OUTS. WE HAD TO WINDOW FIREWALL TO CLEAR 409 HEADS. HAD SHOP FAB A PAIR OF DIMPLED ALUMINUM DOORS, WITH NUT SERTS , NICE. I WANTED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO STRIP, RUN 11'S WITH M&H SLICKS ON EXTRA PAIR OF NEW AMERCANS (INCLUDED IN DEAL) .AND DRIVE HOME. MADE ONE CHECK OUT EZ PASS. 2ND RUN LEFT AT 3500, BROKE STOCK SPIDERS ON LAUNCH. BOUGHT SET OF "UNBRAKABLE SPIDERS" BROKE THEM NEXT PASS. INSTALLED A NEW COMPLETE STRANGE 4.10 POSI, 35 SPLINE, 9 INCH FORD REAR. LEFT AT 4000RPM, PULLED THE WHEELS A FOOT, ACCORDING TO SPECTATORS. IT WAS ALL OVER THE TRACK AFTER 1/8 MILE SO I JUST MAINTAINED SPEED. 12.5-105MPH 1/4 MILE TIME. FOUND OUT IT BENT SPRING PERCHES BAD ON LAUNCH. REINFORCED PEARCHES IN 2018, ALL BEFORE COVID PANDEMIC.
