1939 Packard Super 8 convertible sedan model 1703, body 1277. Eight cylinder 320 CID engine w/ 3 speed transmission. This is a rot free extremely solid, straight California Car. Originally sold by Earl C. Anthony Inc. California Distributor in 1939. The odometer is showing 121,479 miles however, engine was rebuilt in the 1980's at around 100K and hasn't been driven much since. Engine is in perfect mechanical condition and runs smooth and whisper quiet, no smoke strange noises or funny odors.Recent work done : New clutch disc, pressure plate assembly, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, U-joints, four tie rod ends, king pins, center steering crank pin assembly, rear brakes, motor mounts, rebuilt generator, rebuilt starter w/ new solenoid, oil pan gasket, rebuilt carburetor, clutch linkage, steering column shift linkage, new reproduction oil filter assembly by R & A Engineering, newer exhaust system w/ resonator, recent fluids change, turn signals added. The transmission was replaced with a unit that has only 45K miles on it. Car is mechanically in perfect condition. When I purchased this car it had the wrong side mount covers on it but, have since acquired a correct set. That would explain them being of different color than that of the body. Interior is in excellent condition, rear seat has fold down center arm rest. Most of the chrome is in excellent condition and some of it is in show room condition. Nice dash with all gauges and speedometer in working order. The radio and clock are not working. The convertible top is of good driver quality and works as it should but, would need to be replaced for show. The original lacquer paint is cracked and chipping off all over the car. Previous owner (elderly Gent) tried doing a little touch up on his own. Using a paint brush he painted over the areas where the paint was chipping. The worst parts are the front fenders and hood area, some in the back above trunk lid and rear fenders. If you look closely at the photos you will be able to see how lousy the paint is. The sides of the car have the best paint. There is a small ding in the driver's door which I will provide a photo of this. Any questions please feel free to write.
