Price: US $23,900.00 SOLD OUT
This is a 1979 IH Scout ii. Found this one is Arizona and brought it back to our home shop. Original speed/odometer read about 65000 mi. The body was in good shape for an original scout and the motor was smooth but needed to be resealed. Decided it would be a great candidate to due a full rebuild. Rebuild consisted of body off and complete disassembly. All parts have been sand blasted clean. Frame, axles and body inside and out! As with almost all untouched scouts there were some panels to replace so now there is no rust anywhere in this scout. Drain and breather holes have been added in key areas of the body to prevent any moisture from being trapped and causing rust. All metal has been sprayed using Dupont brand etching primer, primer, sealer and urethane. The color is an original ih scout embassy gray with ralley decals. Rock guard (not bed liner) was color matched and sprayed inside tub and lower outer panels. Original gauges all work and switches are working original with stock knobs. Original speedometer was dropped on concrete floor (my fault) and had to be replaced...the best original replacement to be found had 15k mi(115,00 mi) and functions perfectly. New Dick Cepek tires mounted on new wheels...including matching spare. 304 engine has been professionally rebuilt by international mechanic with 40 years of experience...very nice motor! Almost every bearing and seal has been replaced whether it was needed or not. Differentials have been geared to 3:73s with new bearings and seals. New springs and shocks have a 2" lift. New stock fuel tank painted to match original as well as straps. A/C blows cold and heater blows hot(new core). Dual exhaust has low mellow rumble. Things that could still be done...I have not replaced the steering wheel, as I understand this particular steering wheel was used by ih for only about 9 months, so I am in a bit of quandary as to rebuild or replace. The dash pad has some cracks and is currently covered by Scout ii dash mat, JustDashes.com can easily make it better than new for $500. I have all interior trims which are in perfect condition , also have headliner but chose not to reinstall these...just personal preference. Scout gets compliments and thumbs up everywhere it goes! A lot of fun to drive a classic! Why am I selling? Have two boys entering college and some things just have to go. P.S. Pictures of rebuild are available to a serious buyer only. I appreciate curiosity...just not curiosity of someone with no intention of spending $. Thanks.
