Price: US $28,000.00 SOLD OUT
You are bidding on a1969 Series 2 Jaguar E-Type (XKE) 2-seat Coupe. Has a 4.2 Liter in-line 6 cylinder engine. Full mechanical rebuild and repaint (original color) in 1998. Interior redone using one of the kits (BAS perhaps). Exterior dent and rust free. Interior tidy and servicable with no rips or tears. Title is clear, registration is current. Vehicle is exempt from smog cert (pre-dates the requirement) Milage is estimated at 86,000. A note that came with the car when I bought it stated that the speedometer/odometer was replaced at ~80,000. It's been driven 6K since then. Rebuild details: Engine pulled and overhauled from the bottom up by an experienced Jaguar mechanic. During the overhaul the following components were upgraded: - Dual Stromberg carbs removed and replaced with triple SUs. - Original air cleaner configuration restored (had small cleaners on each Stromberg carb) - Remanufactured radiator - Electronic ignition - Modern alternator - Modern AC compressor (currently blowing slightly cool - needs to be charged) - Modern fuel pump - Clunky 4-speed manual replaced with the proper Borg-Wagner conversion for the car (including new bell housing and drive shaft). Gears 1-4 match the original. 5th is overdrive. Car currently has 1-yr old Coker readlines on the 4 corners. Wheels are original. Spare included (not a redline). This vehicle looks sharp, runs strong, and has no trouble hitting 80 on the I405 on-ramp. It also turns heads, gets thumbs from people driving by, and has been known to garner wolf whistles from pasing Harley riders. It is not uncommon to walk out to the parking lot and see people peering through the windows. This happened in the parking lot of the AAA once. The onlooker turned out to be R.C. Walmsley, nephew of one of the two partners that founded Jaguar! This vehicle is NOT a show car. It is NOT in 100% original condition. It is not even a really good candidate for a full restoration. For that it would be better to start with a 100% original and rebuild it from the ground up. It IS a very nice car you can get in start up and drive anytime you want to. I WOULD recommend inspecting and driving the vehicle prior to purchase. It is located in a private garage in Los Angeles, 20 min. from LAX.
