My mechanic recently asked me if I would sell one of his customer's cars for him. It is a 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SL finished in beautiful yellow with an as-new brown and yellow interior. The car is a genuine one owner car, belonging to a retired doctor from the San Fernando Valley who bought the car brand new in 1979 and has put only 97k miles on the car since then. I can't verify the mileage, but going by the condition of the car I would believe it to be accurate. The interior is pretty much flawless and looks and feels new, the exterior was treated to a new (professional and very expensive) paint job four years ago and has a few blemishes and door dings, but is still a good 8 out of 10. Interior I would certainly give a solid 9 out of 10. All the stainless trim is in near perfect condition. The car was just treated to an oil change, new battery, spark plugs and new Bosch leads and starts and drives very well indeed. I have the original "pink slip" from the doctor and also the original finance agreement he signed in 1979 - for an amazing $34k (or around $110k if you bought it in today's prices). The tires are almost new, and I can't see any leaks at all since it's been in my garage at home. I also have the complete and original Mercedes Benz tool kit that came with the car in 1979 still in its wrapping. Genuine California car all of its life, no rust at all and all original Mercedes glass including the wind screen. All power options work fine except the antenna, possibly a blown fuse. The car is an AC equipped car, but the belt was removed to serve better fuel economy per the good doctor. Asking a very reasonable $12k.
