1978 AMC Jeep CJ5 AIR FORCE BASE JEEP CALIFORNIA CAT EXEMPT CJ 5 This rare find is was originally ourchased by the air force and used at Norton Air Force Base as a patrol vehicle. It has several stenciled markings uncluding a BIG AIR FORCE UNDER HOOD. Also some Paper work from air force. It was purchased at auction in late 80's by someone near Palm Springs and stored for 12 years before I bought it. At least he ran it every few weeks. Passes Ca smog fine and does not need a cataletic converter to pass due to dash sticker. I also have the meyers orriville steel top and doors that was originally purchased with it. It has 43000 ish oginal miles and runs great. I have added a tilt cilumn , seats,tan dash.(still have original black but has som cracks,) A few months ago I had custom 16x6 wheels made brand new and powder coated. New cooper AT3 tires. Has original heavy duty leaf springs and new bilstein shocks. I have 2 rollbars for it and has Hella headlights. Very off-roadable. Body ha original paint and some surface rust. the inside has some surface rust and a little corrosion behind seats. not much I will post better pictures soon.
