Overall Condition and history: Purchased in 2000 and had it professionally restored for my father's 70th birthday. Original mileage at purchase 108k. 12k miles since restoration. Unfortunately he can no longer drive it and I have run out of garage space. We had a VW specialist (from Germany) do the restoration which took almost one year. Every panel repaired or replaced. New floor pans. New 1600cc engine. Very original except for aftermarket radio and speakers. When completed it was a show car. The past 15 years it has seen minimal use/ has always garaged and babied. Driven fewer than 1000k miles/ year. Now I would classify it as a beautiful driver car. Exterior- Brilliant blue paint shines. A few small scratches- touched up. Convertible top excellent. No rust on any of the frame, floor pans, panels, or bumpers. The running boards do show some oxidation and light surface rust at the edges. This could be polished out or easily replaced- inexpensive bolt on part. Pictures highlight this detail. Interior- White seats in very good condition, no rips. Carpets clean. All instruments work, including interior light! Later model 3 point seat belts added in front. Aftermarket radio and footwell speakers. Mechanical- New engine in 2000- runs perfectly. Strong and so much fun to drive. Does leak a little oil- i think it's from a push-rod tube. Brakes perfect and just serviced.
