Rescued this ghia from an Estate sale and a buyer who was going to cut it up and make a mid engine race car......stupid. Car hasn't seen the road since 1978 as per the registration stickers from California from it's original owner. Miles on odometer are correct I believe since it's been in a garage for 20+ years. They would occasionally start it up and spin it around the block but it still has it's original bias ply tires so it wasn't trusted on the road much. Great car for restoration or leave it as is and drive it. Car has 3-4 faults. Was repainted in the 70's to the gold color at a body shop in California where everything was taken off so all panels are painted inside and out except for the trunk area where wiring is. Drivers window doesn't roll all the way up and the hinges are saggy on drivers door. The dash pad got brittle over the years and one of the kids started peeling it off supposedly so it's missing. Paint is bubbling in a couple spots. Awesome stuff. Has the original wooden dash nobs, interior, headliner and most of the carpet is original. Seats I believe to be original as they show wear but might have been recovered in the 70's. Original to car bumpers, HELLA light rings and SB12 inner rings, Gear shift lock with ultra rare IGNITION/SHIFT LOCK combination that works perfectly now. Has a, I've never seen one before, VW of Canada stamped block as "remanufactured" so not the original 40 block but still a cool piece of history being a reman unit from the factory. Original air cleaner, shroud and all 40 horse tins fit perfect. Car has ZERO rust. Original battery trays are in tact, pans original, nose, rockers etc. Drivers rocker panel has broken tabs away from the seam under drivers door but is still original metal. All wheel wells and areas are rot free and have original undercoat. Wiring is original and intact all wires appear to be factory. Dash light functions and has a rare "LE CHAPERON" radio that was an option at the dealership with all original knobs too. ORIGINAL smoothy steel wheels and hubcaps. ALL ORIGINAL VW WINDOW GLASS is still there and most if not all of the rubber trim is very good and has it's original metal trim as well, indicating it's true mileage and age in a stored garage these past 20+ years. Engine runs well, brakes are soft but rolls good and parking brake works good. Have tons more pictures Located in Austin Texas, will work with a shipping company 512:983:2610
