Meet Dexter! My wife and I purchased him shortly after meeting while stationed in San Angelo, TX. He was a barn find, with dreams of the open highway. When we met him, he just back from a 2010 restoration and the owner was moving on to Alaska. Dexter had not left the Southwest before and in his senior years was determined to remain somewhere warm. It is time for him to move on to make room for a new addition to our family. He does have a couple of small rock chips in the paint around the fenders because, like a good car Dexter loves getting out to exercise. The restoration included a complete engine rebuild and upgrade to 1600cc. The Transaxle was re-sealed and a new clutch was installed. New 12 Volt wiring. Suspension and steering were overhauled, with new tie rod, new shocks, a new steering coupler. Complete interior overhaul, new seat covers, new carpet, new door cards, new headliner. Body was had a complete re-paint, new floor pan, and new rubber. VIN numbers match from the front clip to the rear under seat VIN. Dexter sports a proper Wolfsburg emblem with the changeover being completed mid 1963. I have 250+ restoration photos if you are interested, and posted a sample of them. Dexter has been loved has been tucked into a garage every night. Dexter starts on the first go, and runs strong. Has been our daily driver as the weather allows⦠(during the cool months when sweat is not a issue). He currently registered in Texas with a clear title. Mileage Exempt. Smog exempt. Seatbelt exempt.
