1978 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT 2 liter TwinSpark (1989) The Good: These engines are a direct fit for the drive shaft, motor mounts and exhaust down pipe. 116 series. TwinSparks give the Alfetta the horsepower they should have had to begin with. Better mileage, more horsepower, more low-end torque, lower emissions and very reliable Bosch Motronic fuel injection.. I bought this car from a car collector in Southern California in 2003, then dropped the engine in a year later. 140K Great oil pressure Runs cool Clutch is strong GTV-6 sport rear coils (IAP) Recent flex disks and drive shaft carrier & bearing. Recent parts: Bosch Fuel pump Bosch throttle switch Fuel pressure regulator Bosch fuel filter High pressure fuel lines Intake boots Starter solenoid New Falken 912 EX tires. The Bad: 1. As almost all Alfettas, it had rust in the inner fender wells when I bought it. It was a California car, so the rust was minimal. I pulled the splash guards and blew the inner wells out with compressed air, then treated it with Eastwood rust encapsulator and have not seen any more signs of rust since. It's been garage kept and it has not gotten wet since I've owned it. 2. The starter grinds occasionally. 3. It has a broken front sway bar mount that needs to be re-welded. Spare parts: Complete late Alfetta GT Driveshaft. Front, center and rear flex disks ECU and wiring harness for TwinSpark Air Flow meter Fuel pump Master and Slave clutch cylinders Steel clutch hose Fresh rear transmission mounts. Spare fuse box. Spare radiator. Extra speedometer clusters. Rear bearing press and (rare) star wrench tools. Spare turn signal steering column cluster. A box of more smaller parts.
