I replaced the front end components with tubular control arms and QA1 adjustable coilovers. I installed matching front and rear Hotchkis sway bars, rear adjustable upper and tubular lower links, an Eaton posi with the original 3:31 ratio 12-bolt rear axle and rebuilt the brakes with a late model booster and a Corvette master cylinder.. I installed EBC Yellowstuff front pads and new rear drums and shoes. Last summer I replaced the tired Turbo400 with a Monster Transmissions 700R4 with a remote electronic torque converter lock-out. I also replaced the carburetor with Edelbrock TBI fuel injection which greatly improved the cold starting, fuel economy and drive-ability. I cleaned and rebuilt the original factory air conditioning and replaced the old condenser with a modern cross flow style condenser and aluminum compressor and converted it to R134 refrigerant. It has 18 inch Boss gloss black center rims with 255/40x18 and 295/35x18 Continental Extreme Contact DW tires. It has a custom 2.5 inch dual exhaust system with remote-controlled electric cutouts and stainless resonators.According to my interpretation of the data tag on the firewall this was originally an E34 402/350hp engine. With the 040 overbore it's now closer to a 408 cu. in. The original paint code is 48B which was Forest Green with a black vinyl top. The car was repainted in Texas in the 80's I think with Dallas Cowboys colors, pearl white with dark blue stripes on the cowl flapper hood. It has almost no rust but could really use a repaint. The production date is 02D which is February, 4th week. ST70 13680 KAN is 1970 El Camino, Kansas City plant. The L stands for hood stripes. It was originally equipped with a Rochester carb and 3:31 non-posi axle. It of course has the round instrument gauges only available on the big block SS cars. The ammeter and temp gauge no longer work but I have installed a voltmeter, mechanical temp gauge and oil pressure gauge cluster under the dash. I have also installed a center armrest/storage compartment with cupholders and it is a column shift because originally was a bench seat car. I have installed Summit Racing buckets with integrated seat heaters. It has a rubber bed liner and I also replaced the headliner.I have driven this car almost daily to work about 12 miles each way and It never overheats or uses any oil and handles great. I have put about 10,000 miles on it in two years and it's a blast to drive mostly because it gets a LOT of attention!. The Edelbrock fuel injection system with integrated optional distributor/ignition module is tuneable from an app available for any android phone or tablet.
