It was late summer of 1969 a young lady just turning 21 decides a sports car.She meets an older gentleman, the original owner. He is selling his near new car with a “special dealer installed performance optionâ€. A short while later the engine fails and she calls her lawyer. Communication between buyer, seller, lawyers and the Chevrolet dealer resulted in an agreement. A second new engine was installed by the Chevrolet dealer. With the warranty engine she now begins participating in organized events, SCCA and owners club autocross. Later in her 50s she puts the Corvette onto wooden blocks in her heated garage until her passing some 30 years later. Born a 435HP Tri-Power it has spent the majority of its life as an L88. Her Corvette had left the factory in Le Mans blue and blue trim (976 paint, 411 trim) with 427/ 435hp Tri-Power, 4speed manual transmission, power steering, AM/FM radio and factory hard top in black vinyl finish. In 1969 soon after being delivered to the original owner the Chevrolet dealer installed a L88 engine and necessary hood. Under her ownership some of the customizations she commissioned on her Corvette were; bolt-in roll bar, Gabriel shock absorbers, long tube steel headers and side exhaust pipes, competition high capacity oil pan, Mallory dual point ignition distributor and spark coil, race approved bell housing, knock-off wire wheels and smaller diameter steering wheel. The steps taken to revive the Corvette were: Changing spark plugs and oiling the cylinders. Changing motor oil and installing period correct vintage AC oil filter. Changing fuel pump to original AC Delco updated non-logo version (keeping the original), Inspection of fuel tank and new fuel with racing additive, new OEM master brake cylinder. The original L88 Holley carburetor was rebuilt with original Holley gaskets and seals, new air filter and hood intake seal, new battery. It was decided to replace and conserve all four original brake calipers, delay their restoration and install new direct bolt-in Willwood alloy calipers and stainless flex hoses in the interest of safety. The Corvette comes with the original complete TriPower, original hood, original radio, chrome cover and transistor set for ignition, boxes of spares and OEM rebuild kits, many service records, Protect-O-Plate in second owner's name, participation plaques for club racing events and removed parts, original spare tire, trim pieces removed for side exhausts and roll bar, extra spoiler pieces.
