You are viewing our 1976 280 S Mercedes Benz with 112,000 miles. We have had the car a few years and used it on weekends and nice days. Anything it has needed mechanically, we have attended to. Last year we had the air conditioning compressor replaced, all new tires, and we replaced the troublesome HVAC servo...which has since failed again so we have mechanically by passed it for heat and a/c depending on the season. Windows, antenna, after market radio all work...aftermarket trunk mounted CD player works when it feels like it! Cruise I don't believe works. Over this past summer, the car started running hot and the temp gauge sensor stopped working? we noticed it started overheating so we replaced the radiator cap and changed the coolant. No oil was in the coolant but I'm still thinking head gasket as fan seems to be working properly. Interior is decent; seats show no tears, back seat nice (unusual for 116's as back seats usually fail), wood is nice. Car starts and runs but I wont drive it more than around the property since this past summer. We acquired a nice low mileage 450 SEL and have no need to hold on to this car. We though of parting it out, but still too decent to do that. Some rust in lower front fenders, around one rear quarter wheel opening and lower rear quarters. I have not taken up the carpets so don't know about the floors but I suspect ok as our mechanic usually brings things to our attention when he has the car on the lift. Front end is tight, trans shifts readily into reverse and smoothly through all gears. Wiper and lights work and door locks work but lose vacuum after a few hours...leak somewhere. I've tried my best to bring the good and bad to your attention. I would advise seeing the car to make your own assessment/judgments. We reserve the right to cancel bids from low or negative feedback bidders; just recovering from a dead beat loser who out bid a legitimate bidder...don't need the headache!
