A true SS, this mild restomod retains its original numbers matching 396 engine. Equipped with a 3.55 rear gear ratio, power steering, power disc brakes, black vinyl top, black vinyl interior, tilt wheel, full tinted glass, bucket seats, floor console and full gauges. Upgrades include a Muncie M21 four speed transmission, Chevelle Sure Fit Vintage Air (car had factory air), JVC sound system and a dash carrier with chrome bezels. Also the cars original color was black cherry with an automatic transmission. Now Torch Red (beautiful base coat/clear coat) and the 4 speed as mentioned. Car was delivered by Dan Steakley Chevrolet in Temple, Texas (have NCRS Shipping Data Report) and maintains all its original rust free sheet metal and frame. Car was completely disassembled, all parts restored or replaced and built back up from the bare frame. Currently 7,200 miles on a full nut and bolt body off restoration. The original numbers matching engine (396-350) was completely rebuilt by Thomson Automotive Inc. (now Ligenfelter Performance Engineering). Have the file from Thomson which documents all parts, specifications and cost. Engine dynoed at 428 hp and 465 ft lb torque. The motor currently dressed (decals on air cleaner) as a 396-375 hp. The sound system is a JVC KDHDR50 stereo, dual AKG600 watt amplifiers, four Polk speakers, BSW 12" sub woofer with separate gain and volume controls. Stereo has USB port and media input and has incredible sound. The authenticity of a true SS is important. The following items were part of SS factory production on the 1970 models and are original to this car: Original numbers matching engine. 3969854 block casting number, T1126CTW stamp (396-350). 1 1/4 inch front stabilizer bar. Heavy duty steering shaft with extra bolt attaching coupler. 12 bolt rear differential. Rear sway bar. Boxed lower rear control arms with additional frame supports. L code on body plate. All but a few original SS Chevelles carry the L code.
