Don't hesitate This is a unique opportunity! Super rare 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Convertible Documented "real deal" needs to be completely restored /repaired   In April 1968, Carroll Shelby introduced the Cobra GT500KR, and called it the "King of the Road." The GT500KR featured Ford's new high performance 428 Cobra Jet engine. Ford rated the cobra jet at only 335 horsepower, even though actual horsepower exceeded 400. The 428 cobra jet included: reinforced block, 427 low riser heads with large port and valves, 735 CFM Holley carburetor, high flow exhaust manifolds, larger diameter exhaust system, and ram air induction. The GT500KR received suspension modification including heavy-duty adjustable shocks, staggered rear shocks and oversized rear brake drums. A heavy-duty Top loader 4 speed close-ratio transmission and Nodular 9" 3.50 Traction-Loc with 31 spline axles got the power to the ground.   This Shelby Cobra GT500KR is one of only 318 convertibles built. The car has Shelby Automotive serial number 4390, and is documented as rare "Factory Special Paint" car with its unusual Yellow color. The car was repainted once in 1987. In 2002, the drive train, engine compartment, underbody and suspension were restored and detailed to SAAC Street Driven Concours class standards. The most incredible thing about this KR is it's extensive documentation. The documents include original build sheet, original window sticker signed by Carol Shelby, original Shelby order form #1872, Shelby invoice #04415 and protecto plate also included is a Marty report signed by Carol Shelby. No documentation is included with this sale, so No documentation will be release with sale of this vehicle unless stated in writing by seller. This KR is one of 20 built with special paint and the white convertible top. I would consider this KR to be one of one, a one of a kind, most unique when looking at its particular options. Special ordered yellow exterior, black interior, white top & rare four speed. This particular KR is one of the most famous & best documented Shelbys out there & is considered one of a kind. The current condition of this KR: currently still in its damaged condition without any repairs made. Stated mileage of 55,777 is a guestimate of actual mileage. This Shelby was recently a victim of a tragic incident. The building in which it was stored caught fire then collapsed on top of this Shelby crushing the car under its weight causing extensive damage destroying many of it parts. It was insured for approximately $325,000. This vehicle is being sold as-is. I have no parts to include.
